Happy Memorial Day – We Remember

memorial day

Memorial Day was created for us to honor those who died for our freedom by remembering their great sacrifice; For us as a nation to remember their great deeds both recent and of long ago.

This remembrance and honoring reminds me of, Psalm 77:11 I will remember the deeds of the Lord, yes, I will remember your wonderful deeds of long ago.

psalm 77

I am reminded of the importance for all of us to be intentional in our honoring and in our remembering of the wonderful deeds our God has done in our lives and in our nation. Let us be bold in our celebration and gratitude. Let us be quick to tell our family and friends of God’s wonderful deeds in our lives. And Let us always remember.

On this Memorial Day weekend, we remember all those in the Armed Forces of the United States. We remember their wonderful deeds and great sacrifice and we honor their memory.

God Bless America! Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

New Year Resolutions #happynewyear2016

10 New Year Resolutions for Pioneer Union Church for 2016 by Pastor Rob Shaw
forward
Res·o·lu·tion —
a firm decision, or determination to do or not to do something. intend, aim, or plan; a commitment, pledge, or promise.

A Godly Resolution is:

  1. Based on scripture or scriptural principles.
  2. Moves me in the direction of God.
  3. Causes me to become more like Him.
  4. Makes me a better person.

 1) Luke 10:27 NIV  He answered: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ ; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”

Resolution? “This year, I will be a lover of God, and a lover of Mankind. Because God IS love, and He first loved ME.”

2) 2Cor 5:16-17 NIV… “Change” So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

Resolution? “This year, I will try to see myself and others from God’s point of view; and I will focus on the NEW me, and not the OLD me.”

3) 1Thess 5:16-18 NKJV   Rejoice always, [17] pray without ceasing, [18] in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Resolution? “This year, I will cultivate a Godly attitude in all things, and I’m determined to live a Godly lifestyle of Prayer, Praise, and Thankfulness.”

4) 1Thess 5:19-20 NKJV   Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies.

Resolution? “This year, I give the Holy Spirit permission to move with dynamic power IN my life, and THROUGH it.”

5) 1Thess 5:21-22 NKJV   Test all things;  hold fast to what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.

Resolution? “This year, I commit to living a life that is pure and holy.”

6) Galatians 6:9 KJV   And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Resolution? “This year, I will not give up doing what is right.”
(Praying, Giving, Serving, Ministering. Testifying, Witnessing)

7) Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV   Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Resolution? “This year, I will stop worrying and start trusting God more.”

8) Ephesians 5:15-16 NLT  So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days.

Resolution? “This year, I will make better use of my time.”

9) 2 Peter 1:5-8 NIV  For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith, goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, kindness; and to kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Resolution? “This year, I promise to be intentional about developing spiritual maturity and growing deeper in the ways of the Lord.”

 10) 1 Peter 4:10-11 NLT   God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God’s generosity can flow through you. Are you called to be a speaker? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Are you called to help others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then God will be given glory in everything through Jesus Christ. All glory and power belong to him forever and ever.

Resolution? “This year, I intend to become more of a servant. To my family, my church, my community, and to all.”

Let us take a few moments to release things that are holding us back so that we may more healthily step out onto the path of our destiny.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

October Blessings

As the Summer season finally comes to an end, I am grateful for so much beauty all around me.

I love this time of year. I love the excitement of children returning to school, the colorful changes in nature, and the expectancy of upcoming Fall activities and family celebrations. I love it! Psalm 85:12 says, Oh yes! God gives Goodness and Beauty. I sure agree.

May your October be filled with God’s goodness and beauty in this next Season of your life. Remember to take time to see God’s goodness and beauty today!
